Summer Work Program

Program Description

The Summer Work Program was started in June 1997 by the Franklin County Probation Department's School-Based Probation Officers. This program serves juveniles who are on Probation Supervision and could benefit from a summer job and supervision. The juveniles work at various projects on County property and learn valuable job and social skills. They are paid minimum wage and a certain percentage is applied to fines, costs, and restitution that they may owe. The number of youth served by this program depends on available funding. The work sites are supervised by Juvenile Probation Officers. Juveniles are referred to this program by the Probation Department or Juvenile Court.
